Salary: USD 218,025 - 256,500 / annual
Coinbase is seeking a Staff Infrastructure Engineer to own the infrastructure, deployment, and operational tooling for its institutional trading platform. This role focuses on building and maintaining latency-sensitive, multi-node trading environments that span cloud and on-premises/colocated venues.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning end-to-end infrastructure architecture, deployment pipelines, and operational tooling for high-frequency trading systems
- Driving reliability and developer velocity through observability, deploy safety, and incident response for 24/7 production systems
- Establishing operational standards, conducting reviews, and implementing automation to reduce single points of failure across the trading stack
- Partnering with platform engineers to ensure latency-sensitive systems remain operable and performant
- Mentoring engineers and building team resilience in a lean, high-impact environment
- Cross-functional collaboration with Product, Institutional Markets, and SRE teams to translate platform needs into infrastructure roadmaps
Required qualifications:
- 8+ years of infrastructure, platform, or SRE engineering with demonstrated ownership of production systems at scale
- Proven track record running infrastructure for latency-sensitive trading environments, including on-premises and colocated deployments
- Deep expertise with orchestration tooling, containerized and bare-metal deployments, and observability/logging platforms
- Strong Linux performance and networking fundamentals in latency-critical environments
- Experience delivering end-to-end solutions: scoping, implementation, deploy safety, monitoring, and incident response
- Background in regulated or financial environments where reliability and low-latency performance are critical
- Responsible use of generative AI to improve workflow efficiency while maintaining human oversight
