Hinge Health is seeking a Staff Engineer to lead the technical direction of its MSK (musculoskeletal) verticals team. You'll own the core technical strategy and execution for programs that deliver care for musculoskeletal conditions, including newly launched offerings like migraine treatment. The role spans both greenfield development—building differentiated new programs from concept through launch—and hardening existing live programs for scale, reliability, and performance.
Key responsibilities include: driving the pod's technical roadmap and making architectural decisions; leading the design and delivery of new care programs; improving reliability and performance of launched offerings; extending shared platform services (NestJS backend, React Native app, PostgreSQL); partnering closely with Product to translate strategy into technical plans; coordinating across multiple engineering teams to deliver cohesive member experiences; and mentoring engineers while elevating engineering practices around CI/CD, testing, and monitoring.
You'll work in a healthcare environment serving over 20 million people across 60+ health plans and employers. The ideal candidate is a technical visionary comfortable navigating ambiguity, equally skilled in 0→1 greenfield work and hardening live systems, and a force multiplier who raises the bar through mentorship and collaboration. You should have 4+ years of full-time software engineering experience, 2+ years with TypeScript/JavaScript across the stack, 2+ years with cloud platforms (AWS preferred) and containerization, 2+ years with relational databases and distributed systems, and 3+ years mentoring or leading engineers. Preferred qualifications include direct NestJS and React Native experience, multi-team product delivery, healthcare/regulated industry knowledge (HIPAA), and prior technical leadership of a pod's direction.
