As a Staff Engineer (Backend), you will architect and operate mission-critical systems at massive scale. You'll design low-latency, real-time microservices that detect sensitive data exfiltration reliably and securely. Your responsibilities include:
- Building highly available and secure authentication and API services that handle thousands of requests per second
- Maintaining and evolving mission-critical internal databases and services
- Optimizing and operating high-volume auto-scaling streaming data services
- Instrumenting services for deep visibility into per-customer utilization and performance
- Writing and maintaining comprehensive documentation for internal and public APIs
You'll work with complex distributed systems, large-scale data pipelines, and real-time processing infrastructure. The role requires deep expertise in systems design, database architecture, and the ability to decompose complex business problems and lead teams in solving them.
Required qualifications include 8+ years of experience with scalable systems (thousands of RPS, three 9's reliability), expertise in systems/high-level languages (Python, Go, Java, C++), experience with distributed storage systems (MySQL, Cassandra, etc.), and hands-on experience building large-scale data processing pipelines using tools like Kafka, Hadoop, or Zookeeper. You should have a track record of shipping production-quality systems with robust monitoring and reliability practices.
