Zoox is seeking a Staff Electrical Architecture System Engineer to join the Electrical Architecture team, reporting to the Principal Architect. This role is central to developing the power distribution, network topology, and logical organization of Electronic Control Units (ECUs) for Zoox's ground-up autonomous robotaxi platform.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing electrical and electronic system architecture designs for autonomous vehicles
- Establishing best practices and validation procedures for power distribution and network systems
- Capturing and integrating low-voltage load requirements from cross-functional engineering teams
- Designing system management approaches and ECU function distribution strategies
- Collaborating with vehicle integration, firmware, and vehicle component development teams to deliver cohesive solutions
- Solving complex system-level problems related to power modes, vehicle networks, and electrical topology
The ideal candidate brings:
- Strong system engineering background with deep expertise in vehicle electrical architecture
- Extensive experience in vehicle network design, power distribution systems, and power mode management
- Proven track record in ECU function distribution and electrical system optimization
- Excellent problem-solving skills and organizational abilities
- Demonstrated ability to deliver complex technical solutions on schedule
- Experience collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines
