Atoms is building Physical AI—autonomous robots for industries that move civilization forward, starting with food, mining, and transport. The company integrates hardware, software, AI, operations, and manufacturing to deploy real-world systems at scale. You will be the foundational Developer Experience Engineer for Atoms' autonomous transport initiative, architecting and scaling developer infrastructure across large, multi-language codebases (C++, Python, Go, Rust, embedded firmware). This is a high-impact individual contributor role where you'll directly empower robotics, ML, and software teams with fast, reliable tooling to accelerate safe autonomous vehicle delivery. Key responsibilities: • Own CI/CD infrastructure and build pipelines for Transport's repositories, optimizing for speed so engineers maintain focus and context. • Architect and optimize build systems (Bazel or similar), managing build graphs, caching strategies, and dependency resolution at scale. • Automate embedded firmware and vehicle OS builds and testing (e.g., Balena Linux integration). • Design and implement secure, fail-safe Over-The-Air (OTA) deployment pipelines for vehicles in the field, including staged rollouts, redundancy, and reliable rollback mechanisms. • Define repository architecture (monorepo vs. multi-repo strategy), artifact versioning, storage, and dependency tracking that scales as the team grows. • Integrate Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) rigs and simulation into release validation to catch regressions before code reaches production vehicles. • Build developer observability and tooling to track build health, test flakiness, and time-to-deploy, fostering a data-informed engineering culture. You bring 8+ years of professional experience in Developer Experience, Build Engineering, or Infrastructure at large-scale organizations. You have strong programming proficiency in Python, C++, Go, or similar languages, with deep knowledge of modern build systems and package managers. You've scaled CI/CD systems, monorepo architectures, and automated testing pipelines for complex codebases. You have hands-on experience with embedded systems, firmware builds, or containerized IoT operating systems. You understand secure OTA deployment design for edge hardware and robotics. You've proven ability to reduce build/test cycle times, eliminate flaky tests, and untangle dependency graphs. Exceptional communication skills and empathetic collaboration across software, hardware, and robotics teams are essential.
