Zscaler is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer specializing in Quality & Automation to join the ZPA Engineering department. This hybrid role (minimum 3 days/week in San Jose) reports to the Senior Manager of Engineering and focuses on leading software quality engineering and test automation for Zscaler's distributed security cloud platform built on Zero Trust Architecture.
In this role, you will gain deep expertise in Zscaler's cloud technologies, particularly the Datapath infrastructure, and leverage AI-assisted frameworks for test-driven development. You'll work closely with developers and product management to understand new features and provide quality inputs. Key responsibilities include leading AI-assisted test plan generation, execution, test automation, and bug fix validation across the platform.
You'll contribute to core cloud operations including phased software rollouts, feature enablement, alert handling, and capacity planning. You'll monitor, diagnose, and resolve complex system failures across distributed networks while conducting performance benchmarking and chaos testing to maintain five nines of high availability.
The ideal candidate demonstrates curiosity about AI tools and has a proven track record of integrating new technologies into workflows. You should have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, 5+ years of network testing and automation experience, and hands-on experience testing cloud, security, and Datapath technologies. Familiarity with AWS or GCP, observability tools, and operational automation is required.
Preferred qualifications include experience with AI-assisted testing frameworks, Zero Trust Architecture, and high-scale cloud operations. You operate with ownership mentality, urgency, data-driven decision-making, and the ability to think at scale while remaining adaptable in high-pressure situations.
