Alkira, a Lumen company, is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to join its growing Solutions Engineering team. The role focuses on helping enterprise customers transform their network infrastructure using Alkira's programmable cloud networking platform.
Key Responsibilities:
- Present and demonstrate Alkira's service to technical decision makers and C-level executives at large strategic enterprise accounts
- Articulate the Alkira value proposition and competitive positioning within the networking and cloud connectivity landscape
- Partner with Account Managers to understand customer requirements, pain points, and technical needs
- Lead and conduct Proof of Concepts (PoCs) to validate Alkira's fit for customer environments
- Assist customers with network design and deployment based on industry best practices
- Respond to RFP/RFI requests with detailed technical solutions
- Collaborate with Product Management to provide customer feedback on upcoming features and drive feature requests through to implementation
- Track and prioritize customer feature requests and technical asks
Required Qualifications:
- Minimum 8+ years of technology sales experience, preferably in SaaS
- Strong networking fundamentals and hands-on expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, static routing)
- Deep knowledge of route policy design, route redistribution, filtering, and traffic engineering
- Network security expertise including firewalls (Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point), firewall policy design, service insertion, and Zero Trust principles
- Hands-on experience with IPsec VPNs, encryption standards, NAT, and secure connectivity architectures
- Understanding of network segmentation, VRFs, and multi-tenant network architectures
- Experience with enterprise cloud connectivity technologies (Cloud On-Ramps, SD-WAN, IPsec)
- Large-scale enterprise network design and deployment experience (data center, WAN, hybrid/multi-cloud)
- Ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across routing, security, and cloud domains
- Strong communication skills and passion for building long-lasting professional relationships
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with network services (DNS, DHCP, load balancing, traffic inspection)
- Cloud networking knowledge across AWS, Azure, and GCP (VPCs/VNets, Transit Gateway, Virtual WAN, Cloud Router, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute)
- Technical certifications (CCNP/CCIE, AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer, PCNSE)
- BA/BS/MS degree
