Alkira, a Lumen company, is seeking a Senior Solutions Engineer to join its growing Solutions Engineering team. The role focuses on helping enterprise customers transform their network infrastructure through Alkira's programmable cloud networking platform.
Key responsibilities include presenting and demonstrating Alkira's service to technical decision makers, articulating the value proposition within the competitive networking landscape, and partnering with Account Managers to understand customer requirements and respond to RFPs/RFIs. You will lead proof-of-concept engagements, assist with design and deployment based on best practices, and serve as a bridge between customers and the Product Management team, providing feedback on upcoming features and driving customer feature requests through to implementation.
The ideal candidate brings 8+ years of technology sales experience, preferably in SaaS, combined with deep technical expertise in enterprise networking. Required skills include strong networking fundamentals, deep expertise in routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, static routing) with hands-on experience in route policy design and traffic engineering, and understanding of network segmentation, VRFs, and multi-tenant architectures. You must have network security expertise including firewalls (Palo Alto Networks, Fortinet, Check Point), firewall policy design, service insertion/chaining, and Zero Trust principles.
Additional requirements include hands-on experience with IPsec VPNs, encryption standards, NAT, and secure connectivity architectures; understanding of enterprise cloud connectivity using SD-WAN, Cloud On-Ramps, and IPsec; experience in large-scale enterprise network design across data center, WAN, and hybrid/multi-cloud environments; and ability to troubleshoot complex network issues across routing, security, and cloud domains. Experience with DNS, DHCP, load balancing, and traffic inspection is a plus. Cloud networking knowledge across AWS, Azure, and GCP (VPCs/VNets, Transit Gateway, Virtual WAN, Cloud Router, peering, Direct Connect, ExpressRoute) is preferred. Relevant certifications (CCNP/CCIE, AWS Advanced Networking, Azure Network Engineer, PCNSE) are advantageous. Strong passion for sales, creating lasting professional relationships, excellent communication skills, and a BA/BS/MS degree round out the profile.
