The People Operations Associate will report to the People Operations Manager and work closely with the broader People team and cross-functional partners in Talent, Finance, and the Clinical team. This role supports the full employee lifecycle for a fast-growing team across all 50 states, moving the organization from reactive support to proactively shaping Nourish's talent and culture.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as the first point of contact for People Ops questions on leave, payroll, and policies; work the ticket queue and troubleshoot issues with warmth and speed
- Run onboarding and off-boarding end-to-end, including data entry and fixes, onboarding weeks, answering new hire questions, paperwork, and system off-boarding
- Administer FMLA, parental bonding, personal, and disability/accommodation leaves in partnership with leave vendors (e.g., Sparrow), staying current on state and federal requirements
- Maintain accurate employee records in HRIS, process role and reporting changes, and pull reports
- Support compliance work across all 50 states, pulling reports and working with government agencies to meet deadlines
- Take full ownership of recurring workflows and continuously streamline them as the company scales
- Handle sensitive employee information (compensation, health data, personal situations) with care and confidentiality
- Over time, take on more elevated work such as policy creation, performance review and merit cycle administration, company offsite planning, and immigration support
Nourish values talent density as a competitive advantage and seeks people who actively choose hard, ambiguous problems, run toward unglamorous work, give and receive candid feedback, and bring relentless resilience without ego.
Requirements:
- 2+ years of experience as a People Ops generalist, ideally in a high-growth startup
- Hands-on experience with onboarding and off-boarding, leave administration (including basic understanding of FMLA), and HRIS tools
- Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations, ideally across multiple states
- Self-starter with strong ownership and follow-through: organized, detail-oriented, able to juggle many requests and drive each to resolution
- High EQ and sound judgment; ability to handle sensitive information with discretion
- Clear and empathetic communication skills; ability to translate policy into plain language
- Energized by ambiguity and building from 1 to 10 in a fast-changing environment
- Bonus: Health-tech experience, ADP experience, leave vendor experience (e.g., Sparrow), or SHRM certification
