Reliable Robotics is building automated aviation systems to enhance safety in air transportation. As a Senior Electrical NPI Engineer, you will lead the development and continuous improvement of supply chain, manufacturing, and installation processes for electrical and avionics products. You'll serve as the technical authority for all new product introduction activities, responsible for designing build and integration processes for PCBs, PCBAs, and hardware-in-the-loop test equipment.
Key responsibilities include producing, integrating, testing, and maintaining electrical/avionics assemblies; sourcing and qualifying products; conducting design-for-excellence (DFX) reviews; and developing scalable processes and infrastructure. You will collaborate with design engineering, quality, and certification teams to embed manufacturability and compliance throughout product development phases. You'll lead the creation of NPI frameworks and technical review methodologies, represent production in design reviews, and ensure designs meet cost, producibility, and quality standards.
Additional duties include conducting design-for-test (DFT) reviews, establishing technical readiness criteria and risk assessments (DFMEA, PFMEA), developing quality control plans, managing supplier relationships, and leading root-cause analysis for continuous improvement. This role requires a deep understanding of safety-critical manufacturing environments and the ability to mentor cross-functional teams.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, aerospace, or systems engineering; 5+ years NPI experience with PCBs/PCBAs including design, supply chain, manufacturing, inspection, and testing; 5+ years conducting DFX reviews for electrical/avionics designs; 5+ years in safety-critical manufacturing; 2+ years with CAD and PLM software (Altium, NX, Teamcenter). Preferred: AS9100, 14 CFR 21.137, or 14 CFR Part 145 experience; troubleshooting and operating complex hardware in safety-critical environments. Position based in Mountain View with 20% travel requirement. Export control compliance required.
