Salary: USD 130,000 - 145,000 / annual
OpenGov is seeking a Senior Customer Success Manager to lead enterprise customer relationships in the public sector software space. You will own a portfolio of approximately 20 high-value accounts, managing net retention, renewals, and expansion across OpenGov's suite of products (asset management, procurement, accounting, budgeting, billing, permitting, and transparency solutions). This role combines individual account management with strategic leadership responsibilities.
Key responsibilities include: managing complex enterprise relationships with government finance directors, city managers, and council members; developing and executing customer success plans aligned with client strategic goals; serving as a bridge between customers and OpenGov's product and sales leadership to drive adoption and resolve escalations; traveling to engage customers in person and lead regional user groups; and mentoring junior customer success managers across the organization.
You will leverage your expertise in SaaS account management and customer success to drive predictable adoption, retention, and expansion. The role requires mastery of OpenGov's product verticals (local/state government, special districts, higher education) and the ability to translate technical capabilities into business outcomes for public sector clients.
OpenGov serves over 2,000 cities, counties, state agencies, school districts, and special districts with an integrated ERP platform. The company is headquartered in San Francisco with offices in Atlanta, Boston, Chicago, Dubuque, Dallas, and Pune, employing 800+ people globally.
Required qualifications: 5+ years of account management, customer success, or sales experience in complex technology, finance, or accounting SaaS environments; proven track record of exceeding quarterly retention and revenue goals; strong executive presence and communication skills; bachelor's degree; proficiency with Salesforce, G-Suite, and modern CS platforms; willingness to travel as required. Sales training methodologies (MEDDIC, Challenger) or a graduate degree is preferred.
