LangChain is hiring a Solutions Engineer for their Chicago office to join the Deployed Engineering team, the technical front line of their go-to-market motion. You'll partner with account executives and customer engineering teams to scope evaluations, design production-grade POCs, and co-architect AI agent systems that real teams depend on in production.
The role sits at the intersection of engineering, product, and sales. You'll own the technical win across the entire customer lifecycle: running technical discovery, designing POCs that mirror real workloads, answering deep architecture questions during evaluations, and staying engaged post-signature to ensure successful deployment. You'll be the technical authority in the room during architecture reviews, security discussions, and competitive evaluations.
Key responsibilities include co-architecting and co-building production AI agents with customer teams (conversational agents, research agents, multi-step workflows), deploying and operating agent-based applications, running technical trainings and workshops for developer audiences, advising customers on architecture and best practices post-sale, and surfacing field feedback to shape product development. You'll also create reusable POC assets, cookbooks, and example code that scale across accounts.
Required: 6+ years in a technical role (solutions engineering, sales engineering, customer engineering, software engineering, or founding/product engineering at startups or scale-ups). You must be comfortable owning the technical thread in sales cycles, explaining technical tradeoffs clearly to developer audiences, and taking responsibility for outcomes. A bias toward action and genuine interest in production AI agents (not just demos) is essential.
Nice-to-haves include production AI agent deployment experience (especially with LangChain/LangGraph), carrying a technical number or working against pipeline with sales teams, LLM evaluation/observability/guardrails experience, and familiarity with cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), containers, and Kubernetes.
