Shift5 is building a data platform for onboard operational technology (OT) that delivers cybersecurity, predictive maintenance, and compliance capabilities to defense and commercial fleets. As a Solutions Engineer, you will serve as the technical bridge between Shift5's platform and customers, helping translate complex technical capabilities into clear business value throughout the sales cycle. You will partner closely with Strategic Account Executives to support technical discovery, customer meetings, and solution development. Key responsibilities include delivering engaging product demonstrations tailored to customer missions and operational environments, assisting with technical evaluations and proof-of-concept activities, and developing deep understanding of Shift5's platform capabilities in cybersecurity and predictive maintenance analytics. You will answer customer technical questions, collaborate with Product and Engineering teams on complex requirements, and support solution design by aligning Shift5's capabilities to customer objectives. You'll also work with Product Marketing on industry events and customer engagements, assist with technical presentations and proposal responses, and capture customer feedback for product enhancement opportunities. Success means delivering compelling technical demonstrations that communicate value clearly, building credibility with customer technical stakeholders, supporting Account Executives throughout the sales cycle, and developing deep product knowledge. You'll represent Shift5 at customer meetings, industry conferences, and trade shows while maintaining professional relationships and staying informed on competitive offerings and industry trends. Required: 2–5 years as a Solutions Engineer, Sales Engineer, Systems Engineer, or similar customer-facing technical role; strong communication skills explaining complex concepts to technical and non-technical audiences; working knowledge of networking, cybersecurity, cloud technologies, OT, embedded systems, or enterprise software; experience with customer demonstrations and proof-of-concepts; Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, Cybersecurity, or related field (or equivalent); U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain security clearance. Preferred: experience in defense technology, cybersecurity, SaaS, aerospace, transportation, or government contracting; Department of Defense or Intelligence Community customer experience. Expected travel: 20–35%.
