Okta is seeking a Solutions Engineer to join its Solutions Engineering team, reporting to the Senior Manager of Solutions Engineering. This role is a functional business consultant combining technical expertise with sales acumen to support customer-facing sales teams across a multi-state territory (Arizona, Arkansas, Dallas, Louisiana, Nevada, Oklahoma, Saint Louis). You will work alongside sales teams as the technical and domain expert, helping customers understand the value of Okta's identity platform and cloud security solutions. Key responsibilities include understanding customer challenges and business issues, delivering product demonstrations aligned to customer needs, answering technical questions from customers and partners, planning and executing Proofs of Concept for complex use cases, and collaborating with Okta engineering teams as needed. Additionally, you will provide feedback to product management on enhancements that address customer needs, share best practices and reusable assets with peer Solutions Engineers, stay current on competitive analysis and market differentiation, and support marketing events including executive briefings, conferences, user groups, and trade shows. Required qualifications include 5+ years of pre-sales engineering experience selling SaaS products, demonstrated passion for customer service in a customer-facing role (ideally pre-sales), ability to communicate complex technical ideas clearly and on the fly, hands-on experience with network security protocols (OAuth, OAuth2, SAML, LDAP), and development experience in web, mobile, or backend technologies. You should understand core security concerns (password hashing, SSL/TLS, encryption, XSS, XSRF), be an exceptional communicator confident presenting to highly-skilled audiences, and be willing to travel approximately 25% of the time. A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, MIS, or comparable field is preferred.
