Benchling is an AI platform for biotech R&D, used by over 200,000 scientists globally including major biopharma companies like Sanofi and Moderna. As a Solution Consultant, you will be the primary solution lead for Benchling's largest and most complex customers and prospects, working in enterprise environments that integrate with legacy systems, lab instruments, and other vendor solutions. You will partner closely with account executives, sales leadership, professional services, and product teams to develop optimal solutions that drive customer value. This is a pre-sales role requiring you to work with senior scientific and IT leaders, establish credibility from initial meetings, and create solutions leveraging cutting-edge technologies. Key responsibilities include: partnering with account executives and peers to develop account strategies and customer engagement plans; conducting discovery to uncover customer needs and business requirements; crafting solutions based on Benchling capabilities, industry best practices, and R&D workflows that map to customer science and technology landscapes; presenting and demonstrating solutions persuasively while managing objections; engaging with product management to influence roadmap based on market insights; and mentoring other Solution Consultants. You must have a Master's degree in Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or similar life science field, with minimum 4 years of work experience, ideally customer-facing. Required: hands-on experience in antibody discovery and engineering as a bench scientist or in a technical role supporting biologics teams. Preferred qualifications include experience with scientific/informatics software (LIMS, ELN, antibody engineering tools), demonstrating scientific software in pre-sales settings, and knowledge of research technology adopted by biopharma. You should be an agile, adaptable problem-solver who can establish trusted advisor relationships with scientists and pitch effectively to scientific buyers. Fluency in English is required; German or French fluency is a plus. Willingness to travel to customer sites 25-30% is expected.
