Benchling is an AI platform for biotech R&D, used by over 200,000 scientists globally including major biopharma companies like Sanofi and Moderna. As a Solution Consultant, you will be the primary solution lead for Benchling's largest and most complex customers and prospects, working in enterprise environments that integrate with legacy systems, lab instruments, and other vendor solutions. You will partner closely with account executives, sales leadership, professional services, and product teams to develop and present optimal solutions that drive customer value. This is a pre-sales role requiring you to work with senior scientific and IT leaders, establish credibility from the first meeting, and translate customer objectives into detailed, cutting-edge technical solutions. Key responsibilities include: developing account and deal strategies with sales teams; conducting discovery to uncover customer needs and decision criteria; crafting solutions that map Benchling capabilities to customer R&D processes and existing technology landscapes; presenting and demonstrating solutions persuasively while managing objections; engaging with product management to influence roadmap based on market insights; and mentoring other Solution Consultants. You must have a Master's degree in a life science field (Biology, Molecular Biology, Genetics, Biotechnology, Bioengineering, Chemistry, or similar) plus minimum 4 years of work experience, ideally customer-facing. Critical requirement: hands-on experience in antibody discovery and engineering, either as a bench scientist or in a technical role supporting biologics teams. Experience with scientific software (LIMS, ELN, antibody engineering tools) and demonstrating scientific software in pre-sales is highly desired. You should understand research technology adopted by biopharma, be able to model scientific data and craft solutions based on product knowledge and industry best practices, and establish yourself as a trusted advisor to scientific buyers. Fluency in English is required; German or French fluency is a plus. Willingness to travel to customer sites 25-30% is expected. Benchling offers a hybrid work arrangement with 3 days per week on-site in Zurich. The company provides competitive salary and equity, fertility and family-forming benefits, four months fully paid parental leave, home office stipend, mental health and wellness benefits, and learning opportunities.
