Salary: USD 230,000 - 280,000 / annual
Notion is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Infrastructure Security team to own meaningful security problems end-to-end across the platform. The role focuses on building a secure-by-default foundation that makes the secure path the easy path for all engineers.
Key responsibilities include:
- Proactively enhancing security posture of AWS accounts and cloud infrastructure
- Creating secure frameworks for secrets management and authentication/authorization
- Designing and deploying robust Identity and Access Management (IAM) solutions
- Providing guidance and education on security and privacy best practices to cross-functional teams
- Participating in and driving mitigation strategies during security-related incident response
Required expertise:
- Security architecture and hands-on experience building and maintaining systems to secure cloud architectures, including secrets management and IAM solutions
- Backend/infrastructure development with production-grade code contributions
- Ability to debug systems in production and continuously improve components with minimal disruption
- Pragmatic, risk-based prioritization with threat modeling and trade-off analysis skills
- Clear written and verbal communication with thoughtful conflict resolution
Nice-to-have qualifications include AWS security best practices, zero trust architectures, deep IAM expertise, data security or privacy engineering experience, experience with AI tooling in defensive security workflows, and participation in security communities.
The role is based in San Francisco or New York City with hybrid work (in-office Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays). Notion values intellectual curiosity, tinkering, discovery, and using AI as a real collaborator in daily work.
