Aalyria is a leading aerospace technology company specializing in laser communications and software-defined networking platforms for satellite and airborne mesh networks, including cislunar and deep-space communications. The company, which acquired technology from Google, is revolutionizing the orchestration and management of planetary mesh networks across land, sea, air, and space.
We are seeking a Software Engineer to join our core Spacetime infrastructure and platform engineering team. You will develop and optimize systems critical to our business, working alongside seasoned engineers from top-tier tech companies. The role offers flexibility to contribute to and take ownership of various projects as both you and the company grow.
Aalyria builds multicloud, Kubernetes-based systems that run in diverse environments: commercial cloud, government cloud, and secure, classified, or disconnected deployments. The same product must install, upgrade, and remain observable across all of them. Your infrastructure team provides the foundation that every other engineering team builds upon: cloud accounts and projects, networking, identity, cluster lifecycle, and infrastructure provisioning. You will make this self-service and repeatable so engineering teams can ship without becoming experts in each cloud provider.
Key responsibilities include:
Cloud Infrastructure: Build foundational components for every Aalyria environment—accounts and projects, networking, DNS and IPAM, identity and RBAC, quotas and policy. Own Kubernetes cluster lifecycle end-to-end (provisioning, upgrades, addons) and the networking layer (Gateway API, service mesh, zero-trust connectivity). Keep patterns consistent across environments while managing deliberate differences imposed by cloud providers, security domains, and customers.
Delivery and Packaging: Make disconnected deployment a first-class path through registry and artifact mirroring, hermetic builds, artifact sourcing with no egress, bootstrapping with no upstream dependencies, and out-of-band promotion.
You will design, develop, test, and maintain core software while managing project priorities, timelines, and deliverables. The ideal candidate brings solid technical background, proven track record solving complex engineering challenges, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving.
