Salary: USD 104,400 - 196,364 / annual
Braze is seeking a Software Engineer II to join the SMS and Channels team, responsible for building and scaling SMS and RCS messaging capabilities within the customer engagement platform. This team owns the full lifecycle of these channels—from composition and sending to message responses and analytics—and also maintains supporting services for Chat messaging, including click tracking and link shortening infrastructure.
In this role, you will ship high-value fullstack features quickly while driving initiatives from concept through delivery. You'll take ownership of key technical areas, solve open-ended distributed systems problems, and help maintain platform reliability as traffic scales. The position requires collaboration across engineering, product, and business teams, with clear communication to both peers and leadership.
You bring 5+ years of full-stack development experience, with demonstrated expertise building distributed systems at scale. You have a solid grasp of distributed systems fundamentals, data structures, and algorithms. You're a self-starter with strong communication and organizational skills, comfortable working in team environments and taking on ambiguous problems.
Bonus qualifications include professional experience with Ruby, Rails, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, Sidekiq, React, or TypeScript, and familiarity with agile development processes.
