Speechify is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Data side of its AI team. In this role, you'll own all aspects of data collection to support model training operations. You'll work on building high-quality datasets at petabyte scale while optimizing for cost and quality. Key responsibilities include: sourcing new audio data and integrating it into ingestion pipelines; operating and extending cloud infrastructure (GCP, Terraform-managed); collaborating with research scientists to optimize the cost/throughput/quality frontier; and helping shape the AI team's dataset roadmap for next-generation consumer and enterprise products.
You'll need a BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, plus 5+ years of industry software development experience. Required skills: bash/Python scripting in Linux; Docker and Infrastructure-as-Code proficiency; hands-on experience with a major cloud provider (GCP preferred). Experience with web crawlers and large-scale data processing workflows is a plus. The ideal candidate is scrappy, adaptable to changing priorities, and communicates clearly.
