Celonis is seeking a Backend Software Engineer to join the team responsible for maintaining and improving the on-premises Process Mining application while supporting customer migration to the cloud-based Celonis Platform SaaS solution.
You will take ownership of the full product lifecycle—from investigation and implementation through delivery to customers. Key responsibilities include maintaining project stability and security, updating dependencies, implementing new standards and protocols, and continuously improving software reliability. You'll support on-premises customers in their migration journey to the modern cloud platform and help automate development processes.
The role includes mentoring teammates and contributing to an inclusive engineering culture. You'll work with Java (Spring Boot, Hibernate) and be adaptable to learning new programming languages as business needs evolve.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field; 3–6 years of hands-on software engineering experience; strong expertise in Java, Spring, and Hibernate frameworks; experience with microservices-based distributed systems; ability to navigate enterprise challenges (security, compliance, scalability, data consistency); excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills; and understanding of complex data structures and algorithms.
Highly desired: experience with AI-powered IDEs and code generation tools. You should be comfortable in geographically distributed work environments and have a curiosity about how systems work and a drive to improve them.
