ID.me is a digital identity platform serving 152+ million users across federal, state, and healthcare agencies, plus 600+ consumer brands. The Commerce & Loyalty team is building Shop, a member-facing platform that connects trusted communities (military, first responders, teachers, nurses, students, government employees) with exclusive offers, cashback, and rewards from leading brands.
As a Software Development Engineer III, you will own the frontend experience for offer discovery, cashback claims, and rewards management using Next.js and React. You'll build responsive, accessible, high-performance UI that scales under peak shopping traffic, integrate with backend REST and GraphQL services, and contribute to a shared design system.
Key responsibilities include: architecting and maintaining the Shop member experience; developing responsive, accessible UIs optimized for Core Web Vitals; integrating frontend with backend services and identity systems; reusing and contributing to component libraries; optimizing performance and reliability under peak load; practicing AI-first development with tools like Claude Code, Cursor, and Copilot; upholding security and privacy standards; collaborating cross-functionally with Product, Design, QE, API, and Infrastructure teams; writing well-tested code with observability instrumentation; and participating in system design and code reviews.
Required: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent); 4+ years building web applications with strong React and Next.js expertise; TypeScript and modern frontend tooling proficiency; fluency with AI coding tools as a core development practice; proven end-to-end feature delivery with testing, observability, and documentation; experience in containerized, cloud-based, infrastructure-as-code environments (GCP, Docker, Kubernetes, or Nomad); strong communication and collaboration skills.
Preferred: REST/GraphQL API production experience; high-traffic performance optimization (Core Web Vitals, SSR/ISR, caching); design systems and component library work; WCAG accessibility standards; e-commerce, marketplace, offers, loyalty, or payments domain experience; backend familiarity for full-stack contribution.
ID.me operates a full-time, in-office culture with 5 days/week onsite at Mountain View, CA or McLean, VA offices. The team embraces AI-first development practices throughout design, build, test, and ship cycles.
