Datadog is hiring a Social Media Lead to build and own the developer audience across social channels and emerging platforms. This is a growth role reporting to the Head of Developer Growth within the Product organization, not a traditional marketing coordination position. You will own the voice, editorial standards, and publishing cadence for Datadog's developer channels (@datadogdevs on X, Datadog Developers on LinkedIn) and expand into platforms where developers congregate: Reddit, YouTube, Discord, Bluesky, dev.to, Hacker News, and others. The role emphasizes authentic, transparent presence—developers immediately detect and reject inauthentic outreach. Key responsibilities include: transforming shipped engineering work into compelling content (releases, changelogs, war stories, postmortems); building attribution models connecting published content to trials and signups; running experiments with clear hypotheses and willingness to kill underperforming initiatives publicly; leading developer content strategy around events; mobilizing internal engineers and external developers to post under their own names; and tracking competitive sentiment to route insights back to product and growth teams. This is a builder role emphasizing outcomes over vanity metrics. You'll have direct access to product and engineering peers, enabling rapid iteration and direct audience engagement. The ideal candidate has demonstrated audience growth from small to large scale, proven content impact on measurable outcomes, strong distinctive writing voice, platform and format expertise, comfort with automation and tooling, and experience with technical or enthusiast audiences. Background is open—consumer, sports, entertainment, media, or tech; engineering, growth, marketing, B2C, or adjacent fields all welcome. Preferred qualifications include short-form video production, existing personal audience, on-camera comfort, and cross-functional collaboration ideas.
