Fanatics is seeking a Social & Community Moderator Specialist to grow and deepen the company's presence across social community forums where sports fans engage. This role is part of the Organic Social team and focuses on day-to-day management, moderation, programming, and participation across Discord, Reddit, X, Facebook Groups, and emerging community platforms.
You will own community programming across multiple platforms, developing and maintaining an always-on community calendar spanning conversations, recurring programs, activations, AMAs, giveaways, cultural moments, and sports tentpoles. The role requires active and authentic participation in online sports communities—joining conversations rather than simply broadcasting content. You'll moderate Fanatics-owned communities, establish a welcoming and distinctly Fanatics voice, and identify emerging conversations, trends, memes, and fan behaviors to turn into timely programming and content opportunities.
Key responsibilities include developing community-first tactics to support major sports moments, campaigns, product launches, and tentpole events; creating recurring community franchises and experiences that give fans reasons to return; serving as a bridge between Fanatics and the sports community by surfacing fan sentiment, feedback, trends, and product opportunities to internal teams; and partnering with the broader Organic Social team to translate community insights into content across platforms.
You will collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Brand, Product, CRM, VIP, and Responsible Gaming teams to incorporate community perspectives into broader initiatives. The role also involves tracking community health, engagement, growth, and participation to continuously improve programming, and identifying and testing new platforms and emerging opportunities where Fanatics Sports & Casino can authentically participate.
The position requires willingness to travel occasionally for events, activations, and team offsites, and comfort working nights, weekends, and non-traditional hours around major sporting events.
Requirements:
- 3–5+ years of experience in social media, community management, social programming, or related field, preferably within sports, sports betting, gaming, entertainment, or media
- Hands-on experience managing or growing communities across Discord, Reddit, X, Facebook Groups, or similar online communities
- Deep understanding of sports culture, sports fans, betting culture, internet culture, and how communities behave online
- Strong instinct for what makes people participate in conversations and ability to turn that into compelling community programming
- Experience with social moderation, community guidelines, escalation processes, and managing conversations in fast-moving environments
- Strong written communication skills and ability to adapt brand voice to different platforms and communities
- Proactive, highly collaborative approach and ability to operate independently in fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills to manage multiple community programs, conversations, and initiatives simultaneously
- Genuine passion for sports and 24/7 curiosity about what fans discuss online
