Maxima is building an agentic AI platform to automate enterprise accounting. As a Senior/Staff Engineer, you will drive initiatives with broad business and technical impact across the organization. This is not a single-area role—senior/staff engineers solve Maxima's most important and complex problems. Key responsibilities include:
- Building agentic systems that power real-world enterprise accounting automation
- Scaling the platform to support large and growing enterprise workloads
- Architecting a durable and scalable financial data processing layer
- Building infrastructure that powers agentic systems
- Solving intricate accounting workflows through clean and robust abstractions
You will own major product and engineering areas, work closely with customers, and collaborate with a world-class team. The company values technical excellence, curiosity, and initiative.
Requirements: typically 5+ years building systems at high-growth companies; strong familiarity with web development, relational databases, and distributed systems. Experience with AI agents, data pipelines, mission-critical systems (e.g., fintech), or complex workflow engines is a strong plus. The role requires 5 days per week in-office near Union Station/King Street in Toronto. Culture fit is important to the team.
