Within is a Series B AI company ($91M raised, 7x growth YoY) building AI agents that discover and automate enterprise workflows. The company's platform captures how work actually happens across teams and applications, structures it into a Context Graph, and enables continuous improvement. Customers like OpenAI, Google, DoorDash, and Stripe use Within to transform their operations.
As a Forward Deployed Architect (FDA), you are a hands-on, customer-facing technical leader who helps enterprise customers turn business objectives and captured workflows into working AI agents and skills. You partner closely with Customer Success to establish objectives and lead the agent-building engagement end-to-end: assessing opportunities, facilitating stakeholder decisions, building and evaluating prototypes, and guiding customers toward production deployment and measurable business impact.
You will work with enterprise business and engineering leaders across industries, functions, technology stacks, and AI maturity levels. You are expected to own your first customer engagement within 30 days and grow to a portfolio of five or more engagements over time.
Key responsibilities include: leading customer agent-building engagements from discovery through deployment; selecting and designing high-value agents using captured processes and business context; building and testing working prototypes (targeting first live agent within 45 days); guiding production, adoption, integrations, security reviews, UAT, and rollout; defining success measures and tracking ROI; and sharing reusable architectures and lessons learned to accelerate future engagements.
You will design reliable agents and skills, understanding evals, security, governance, observability, and practical human-agent experiences (approvals, exceptions, handoffs). You experiment continuously with leading models and AI-native tools, apply them thoughtfully, and can demonstrate their impact on output quality and speed.
You quickly learn unfamiliar business processes, connect opportunities to measurable objectives, and distinguish high-impact automation from low-value work. You communicate clearly and consultatively, aligning business and technical stakeholders on scope, approach, responsibilities, and trade-offs. You thrive solving unfamiliar problems in customer environments, take initiative, work creatively around constraints, and bring in the right people to keep engagements moving. You understand practical enterprise delivery constraints: access, security reviews, testing, governance, procurement, and competing priorities.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated expertise in enterprise agent architecture: designing reliable agents and skills, selecting appropriate architectures (deterministic workflows, agent loops, orchestration), understanding evals, security, governance, and observability
- Strong AI-native execution: continuous experimentation with leading models, coding agents, harnesses, and techniques; ability to demonstrate how tools affect output
- Business acumen: ability to quickly learn unfamiliar business processes, connect opportunities to measurable objectives, and prioritize high-impact automation
- Consultative communication: ability to align business and technical stakeholders on scope, approach, responsibilities, and trade-offs; making technical recommendations understandable
- Comfort in complex, ambiguous environments: solving unfamiliar problems in customer settings, taking initiative, working creatively around technical and organizational constraints
- Enterprise delivery experience: understanding practical constraints of shipping into customer environments (access, security reviews, testing, governance, procurement, competing priorities)
