Optibus is seeking a Senior Product Manager to build the Rail product from zero to one, extending their existing Planning, Scheduling, and Rostering platform into rail and multimodal bus–rail networks. This is a foundational builder role with no established playbook, user base, or inherited backlog. You will own the Rail product end-to-end: defining the problem, building the MVP, deploying with first customers, and establishing the path to a repeatable, scalable product. You'll work with a small cross-functional team, design partners from rail operators and transit authorities, and the wider Planning product group to find product–market fit and shape go-to-market strategy. Key responsibilities include: - Own the complete Rail product lifecycle from zero to one: problem definition, MVP, first customer deployments, and scaling strategy - Recruit and manage a design-partner program with rail operators and transit authorities; translate their workflows into validated product bets - Develop deep expertise in rail planning personas (timetabling, rolling stock, crew planning, network planning) and their intersection with bus planning in multimodal networks - Determine what to reuse from the existing Planning platform versus what must be built new for rail; negotiate trade-offs with engineering and the Planning product team - Translate discovery into product artifacts: wireframes, clickable prototypes, specs, and user stories, validated with users and engineering before committing to build - Leverage AI tools as a core part of the workflow to accelerate discovery, analysis, prototyping, and documentation - Define success metrics for each stage (design-partner adoption, first paying customers, time to value) and make kill/pivot decisions based on data - Own the Rail roadmap and its OKRs; lead quarterly planning with the wider product group - Shape go-to-market strategy: positioning, pricing input, target segments, and sales narrative in collaboration with marketing, presales, and sales - Work hands-on with Customer Success and Onboarding to ensure first rail rollouts succeed and feed learnings back into the product Requirements: Not explicitly stated in the posting.
