Relativity Space is building Terran R, a 3D-printed rocket designed to deliver payloads to orbit. The Structures and Mechanisms team owns the full design, build, and test lifecycle of integrated structures and flight mechanisms. As a Senior Vehicle Structures Engineer, you will lead the conceptualization, design, analysis, manufacturing, and testing of primary and secondary structures including thrust structures, propellant tanks, interstages, and fairings.
Your responsibilities include innovative structural load path design for complex structures and adjacent system packaging; review of static and dynamic load inputs, material properties, and structural requirements; analysis and sizing of flight structures to support design reviews and drawing release; development and support of hardware test campaigns including integration, operation, and result evaluation; and support for manufacturing process development.
You will work on multiple structural subsystems across the vehicle, not confined to a single area, with hands-on hardware ownership and direct visibility into factory floor implementation. The role emphasizes creative problem-solving to reduce mass, parts, processes, and tooling. On a weekly basis, you will design flight components using NX/TeamCenter, perform structural analysis using Nastran and ANSYS, create and release engineering drawings, and support component fabrication. You are expected to be self-motivated, adaptable, and capable of leading projects to completion in a fast-paced environment with significant mechanical or structural design experience and a proven track record of collaborative project delivery.
