Kodiak Robotics is seeking a Senior Vehicle Integration Engineer to lead hardware and systems support for its autonomous trucking fleet. Founded in 2018, Kodiak has become a leader in autonomous ground transportation, delivering freight daily across the southern United States and working with the U.S. Department of Defense on autonomous capabilities.
In this role, you will own the continuous improvement of the customer-facing autonomous vehicle product, identifying and driving key technical initiatives. You will spearhead the coordination and execution of complex repairs and upgrades, partnering with mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing, and vehicle operations teams to ensure seamless delivery. You will own the design-for-manufacturing and serviceability feedback loop, directly influencing product architecture and long-term maintainability.
You will oversee hardware quality inspections, proactively resolving manufacturing and build issues to ensure fleet-wide reliability. You will lead the broader hardware team in developing vehicle and subsystem BOMs, comprehensive documentation, and robust verification plans. Your responsibilities span diagnostics, repairs, and documentation creation, elevating operational standards and assisting technicians in maintaining fleet reliability.
You bring a BS or MS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering with 6+ years of experience in autonomous vehicles, automotive, or related industries. You are equally comfortable with a wrench and a keyboard, with strong hands-on experience in automotive electronics, communication protocols (Ethernet, CAN), and scripting languages like Python or MATLAB. You understand Linux-based systems, computer networking, and can navigate electrical and mechanical CAD software.
You are a team leader who has played the lead role on several projects, taking ownership and driving teams to deliver exceptional results. You are a great communicator who writes clear, detailed documentation and leads cross-functional design reviews. You have a proven track record of driving testing through development, execution, analysis, corrective actions, and final report-outs, with experience bringing sustaining engineering practices to fielded products.
