Motorway is the UK's largest online car-selling platform, connecting private sellers with over 8,000 dealers nationwide. Founded in 2017 and backed by leading technology investors with £143 million in Series C funding, the company is scaling rapidly and seeking a Senior Total Rewards Partner to own compensation, equity, and commission strategy across the business. Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, you will bring structure and best-practice rigor to how Motorway pays and rewards its people. This is a hands-on, influential role with real scope to shape the rewards function as the company scales. Compensation responsibilities include owning market pricing and pay benchmarking through external surveys and job matching; taking the newly completed job architecture live by building salary bands to best-practice standards; running the annual merit cycle and gender pay gap reporting in partnership with People Partners and Finance; and maintaining accurate compensation data in the HRIS (Humaans) with dashboards that drive clear decisions. Equity work involves bringing hands-on experience with employee equity plans (EMI, unapproved options, or equivalent); understanding cap table dynamics and running equity and option pool analysis; and partnering with leadership to develop equity plans including grant sizing, vesting, segmentation, and full award administration from communication through execution. Commission responsibilities include supporting a full audit and review of current commission plans; ensuring plans are structured for long-term success and sustainable behavior change; and partnering with business leaders, People Partners, and Finance on plan analysis, documentation, policy, and communications. You will be a practised user of AI tools, embedding them into data analysis, dashboard building, and recommendations. Strong analytical and spreadsheet skills are essential, along with clear communication and natural partnership across People, Finance, and the wider business. You're comfortable in a small, tight-knit team where your work has direct impact, picking up whatever the work needs—whether benchmarking models, communications decks, or grant administration processes.
