LanceDB is an AI-native Multimodal Lakehouse platform used by companies like Runway, Midjourney, and Netflix to manage petabytes of video, audio, and derived signals for AI research and model training. The company is seeking a Senior Technical Product Marketing Manager to own the technical content, demos, benchmarks, and competitive strategy that drive go-to-market efforts. In this role, you will be the technical credibility layer behind LanceDB's marketing. You'll work closely with a product marketing counterpart who owns positioning and messaging, while you focus on the technical proof points that resonate with AI researchers and platform engineers—your core buyers. Key responsibilities include: - Owning the technical proof surface: benchmarks, reference architectures, technical deep dives, and competitive comparisons. You'll identify what proof is missing, produce much of it yourself, and coordinate with subject matter experts as needed. - Building hands-on demos on LanceDB and shipping them as content, conference materials, and sales assets without waiting on engineering resources. - Writing, hosting, and shipping a biweekly product update video featuring on-camera walkthroughs of new features with live demos. - Partnering with Engineering to frame technical questions, ensure rigor in benchmarks and proof points, and translate results into market-ready materials. - Developing customer and partner proof points, including reference architectures from real deployments and joint technical content. - Owning competitive intelligence end-to-end: maintaining the competitive landscape, running teardowns, and creating battlecards and win themes. - Building the technical half of sales enablement: demo scripts, discovery questions, competitive training, and supporting materials. - Grounding all work in practitioner input: customer conversations, user research, open-source community activity, and sales call feedback. - Partnering with the broader Marketing team on launches, campaigns, and events to ensure technical depth resonates with skeptical audiences. You'll operate in a small, fast-moving team where scope is still forming. Expect close collaboration with PMM, DevRel, Engineering, and Sales as the go-to-market motion evolves. REQUIREMENTS: - 5+ years of marketing experience in infrastructure or developer products, in roles such as product marketing, technical marketing, developer relations, solutions architecture, or adjacent technical GTM functions. - Hands-on technical ability: you write Python, work comfortably in notebooks, and can build a working demo on an unfamiliar system independently. - Comfortable on camera and able to carry a recurring video series with minimal support. - Deep knowledge of AI/ML infrastructure, data infrastructure, databases, or developer tools. You should understand training pipelines, embedding workflows, and petabyte-scale data curation challenges. - Demonstrated competitive marketing expertise: you've built competitive positioning for technical products and translated it into enablement materials. - Strong writing skills with the ability to go deep without unnecessary padding. - Proven ability to own work end-to-end without a supporting team. You have good taste, strong pattern-matching for common problems, and move quickly with confidence. - Strong analytical instincts and ability to use data to draw conclusions and adjust strategy. - Thoughtful use of AI as a marketing tool, with ability to iterate on how it improves your work. - Excellent communication skills and ability to partner effectively with founders, engineers, and GTM leadership in a high-ownership environment. - Bonus: background as an engineer, researcher, solutions architect, or developer advocate before transitioning to marketing.
