Opendoor is building the modern system of homeownership, creating an end-to-end online experience that helps people buy and sell homes on their own terms. We're seeking an exceptional Senior Tax Manager to own the Canadian tax function while contributing meaningfully to the global tax team. You will lead all aspects of Canadian tax compliance and strategy, including corporate income tax across federal and provincial jurisdictions, GST/HST and indirect tax compliance, transfer pricing documentation and intercompany agreements, and Canadian tax reporting coordination with the US team. You'll stay ahead of Canadian tax changes—federal, provincial, and Pillar Two—translating them into actionable decisions for Finance before deadlines. You'll own the tax authority relationship, responding to correspondence and resolving inquiries. You'll also flex into US income tax provision, federal and state compliance review, and month-end close as a meaningful contributor carrying real workload during peak periods, and contribute to public company tax reporting on a shared basis. A key differentiator: you'll embrace AI-driven practice improvement. You'll use Claude, Claude Code, and similar tools to accelerate research, draft technical memos, analyze notices, run calculations, and design repeatable workflows. You'll default to AI without deferring to it—every output you put your name on is something you can explain and defend. You'll map which tax work demands deep judgment versus what's mechanical, automate the latter, build structured workflows for the in-between, and protect your focus for analysis and positions that actually require your expertise. The role is based in the downtown Toronto office, in-person four days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday). Candidates must be based within commuting distance. REQUIREMENTS: - Deep Canadian tax expertise with a track record as a senior Canadian tax voice others defer to on technical questions - Background at a major accounting firm in a Canadian corporate or international tax group - Multinational tax experience across US and Canadian tax obligations; understanding of how cross-border arrangements function in practice - Transfer pricing expertise beyond documentation review; demonstrated ability to defend positions - Ability to translate complex technical positions into clear, actionable guidance - Meaningful US tax experience sufficient to flex into provision, compliance, or month-end close and carry real workload - CPA (Canada) or equivalent - Track record of making the tax function faster and lighter than you found it - Experience rebuilding processes with AI that now run faster; ability to interrogate new tools, pressure-test them, and identify errors before others BONUS: Public company experience, technology company or cross-border business background, familiarity with NetSuite, Snowflake, or similar finance/accounting platforms.
