Knox Systems operates the largest Federal managed cloud, building and operating secure cloud and AI environments that support the U.S. government's most critical missions in national security, public safety, and essential public services. The company is building its finance function from the ground up, and this is the first dedicated in-house senior accountant hire. You will report to the Controller and play a central role in designing and establishing finance processes as Knox scales. This is a high-impact role for someone who wants to build repeatable, automated solutions rather than execute manual tasks repeatedly. You will have significant influence over how the monthly close runs, how AR and AP flow, what gets automated, and what the control environment looks like. Key responsibilities include: - Contributing to the design and execution of the month-end close, targeting a five-business-day cycle - Building finance processes from scratch, including AP and AR workflows, expense policy, customer billing, vendor onboarding, and hosting-cost pass-through - Managing the audit request list for your scope and working directly with auditors and tax advisors - Coordinating tax and corporate compliance filings with outside providers - Partnering with the operations administrator on AR and AP functions - Contributing to variance analysis and analytical reviews during month-end close - Identifying and eliminating manual steps in the close and billing cycle using a modern, AI-native tech stack - Contributing to the development of an internal control framework, including risk assessments and control implementation The role requires judgment, curiosity about the business, and an inherent drive to optimize processes. You will be expected to write clearly and explain financial concepts to non-finance stakeholders. This is not a well-defined role; it is for someone eager to set up processes and build scalable solutions. REQUIREMENTS: - 3+ years of experience in finance operations, accounting, or audit - Proactive, self-starting mindset with ownership mentality suited to a scale-up environment - Ability to pick up new systems quickly and prefer fixing workflows rather than working around problems - Forward-thinking approach ensuring implemented solutions are scalable for continued growth - Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize effectively - Strong written communication skills - Ideal but not required: experience building or rebuilding a finance or operations process end-to-end, or being the first person to own something at a company - U.S. citizenship required (dual citizenship not permitted); must provide documentation verifying sole U.S. citizenship status as part of background check
