Form Energy is seeking an experienced Senior Staff Project Engineer to lead the engineering of utility-scale projects utilizing its multi-day iron-air battery energy storage systems. This role sits within the Project Engineering organization responsible for deployment, commissioning, and operations of customer projects. You will oversee project engineering from early conceptual design through detailed design and execution, managing technical challenges related to design, engineering, procurement, and construction of pilot and commercial-scale projects. Key responsibilities include creating conceptual project layouts and single-line diagrams; leading development of balance-of-plant design packages (civil, structural, mechanical, electrical, and network architecture); ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local codes and standards; providing technical support during project execution including RFI review, submittals, and field quality checks; and supporting project managers on document control, budget oversight, quality, scheduling, and value engineering. You will work closely with EPC partners, internal Product Engineering and Product Management teams, and external stakeholders including clients, owner's engineers, contractors, and authorities having jurisdiction. Travel to project sites is expected up to 30% of the time. Required qualifications: 12+ years in renewable energy project engineering or deployment with a bachelor's degree in civil, structural, mechanical, or electrical engineering. Demonstrated track record executing utility-scale energy storage and/or renewable energy projects from development through operation, including feasibility studies, planning, preliminary and detailed design, permitting, and interconnection. Strong knowledge of ESS codes and standards (NFPA 70, NFPA 855, IEEE 1547, IEEE 2800, UL 9540, UL 9540A). Excellent communication skills and ability to coordinate with diverse external stakeholders. Resourceful team player capable of cross-functional collaboration.
