Airbnb's Creative Studio is seeking a Senior Staff Editor to shape and maintain the company's brand voice and editorial standards at scale, with a particular focus on AI-assisted content generation. You will serve as the final editorial authority on AI-generated copy, ensuring it maintains Airbnb's distinctive voice, craft, and precision across all customer-facing surfaces. In this role, you'll own the evolution of Airbnb's brand voice guidelines and editorial standards, making them clear, opinionated, and usable by both human teams and AI systems. You'll partner closely with Marketing Technology teams to train, fine-tune, and evaluate language models against brand standards, providing the editorial judgment that defines what "on-brand" means at a model level. You'll review and refine AI-generated copy across campaigns, product, and marketing surfaces—catching not just errors, but tone, nuance, and craft issues that automated systems would miss. You'll build and maintain scalable editorial QA processes for AI-generated content, determining what requires human review versus what can ship autonomously. You'll translate brand guidelines into structured inputs (style guides, prompt frameworks, training examples) that improve model output over time. Cross-functional collaboration is central: you'll work with Engineering/Technology, Legal, Trust, and Localization teams to ensure editorial standards hold up across markets, languages, and regulatory considerations. Additionally, you'll develop new internal tools that support editorial review, model training, and content QA, bringing an editorial perspective to how these tools are structured. You'll pilot new tools with editorial and creative teams, gathering feedback and iterating before wider rollout. You'll act as a senior editorial voice in creative reviews, mentor writing and editorial talent across the organization, and stay current on how language models evolve to continuously push editorial standards. The role requires both hands-on editing (line-editing real copy) and systems thinking (defining standards that scale beyond your own review). You'll identify where language and voice consistency breaks down at scale and fix it at the system level, not just the sentence level. You'll also ensure content within marketing materials is product-accurate and efficiently created. REQUIREMENTS: - 10+ years of editorial, copywriting, or brand voice experience, ideally at a Creative Director or Senior Editor level within an in-house brand team, agency, or publication known for editorial excellence - Demonstrated, exacting eye for language—grammar and style are table stakes; taste, rhythm, and judgment are what matter most - Experience developing or maintaining brand voice guidelines at scale across a global, multi-market brand - Direct experience working with or training AI/language models; understanding of how models learn from examples and feedback - Ability to operate as both a hands-on editor (line-editing real copy) and a systems thinker (defining standards that scale) - Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly with Engineering/Technology, Legal, and Localization teams - Comfort with both editing and writing; this role will craft brand guidelines, copy within tooling, and messaging within product screens - Confidence to be the final word on language, paired with humility to know when a guideline needs to evolve - Portfolio or body of work reflecting a distinctive, well-crafted brand voice - Ability to simplify complex problems and create clarity in ambiguous, fast-moving environments PREFERRED: - Experience at a company with a well-known editorial voice or brand language system - Familiarity with prompt engineering, fine-tuning workflows, or structured content systems used to train generative models - Experience localizing or adapting brand voice across multiple languages and cultural contexts - Background in both traditional editorial craft (journalism, publishing, advertising copywriting) and modern content operations
