Inspira Education Group is a fast-growing edtech startup backed by leading VCs (Zeev Ventures, Quiet Capital, Craft Ventures, and others) that democratizes access to high-quality coaching for medical, legal, business, and college admissions. The company operates a network of top admissions coaches and is building software and services to disrupt traditional application processes.
You will serve as Editor, Digital Content—a senior individual contributor role responsible for establishing and maintaining the quality bar for all published content. You'll work directly with coaches, subject-matter experts, and the content team to move drafts from rough to publish-ready across the blog, guides, and marketing materials spanning medical, legal, business, and college admissions.
Key responsibilities include:
**Edit for quality at sentence and structure level:** Catch spelling, grammar, factual, and formatting errors before publication. Rewrite passive constructions into active voice; push plain language over jargon. Cut unnecessary words and tighten bloated sentences. Verify heading hierarchy (H1 → H2 → H3) is logical and accurate. Trace claims, stats, and quotes back to primary sources and flag anything unverified. Define proper nouns and terms on first mention within each section.
**Own and apply the style guide:** Apply Inspira's house style consistently across punctuation, capitalization, formatting, and tone. Flag deviations rather than silently fixing them so writers internalize the rules. Evolve the guide as content and audience grow, building buy-in rather than dictating.
**Edit for how content is found and used—by readers and by AI:** Match content format to search intent. Ensure sections lead with the point in the first sentence or two. Break content into self-contained chunks that each answer one question clearly, so they can be cited in isolation by readers or summarizing LLMs. Structure key claims as clear subject–predicate–object statements. Spot phrasing that reads like it was written for a crawler instead of a person. Check that link text is specific and descriptive.
**Raise the bar on originality and expertise:** Evaluate whether a piece adds real value through original data, expert quotes, or first-hand experience versus restating what's already out there. Assess whether content demonstrates real expertise through sourcing, credentials, and depth. Know the difference between what AI can generate on its own and what requires human lived experience or judgment.
**Build the systems behind great content:** Design and document repeatable editorial workflows—briefs, review stages, approval gates—so quality doesn't depend on any one person. Give writers specific, actionable feedback that explains the principle behind each change. Regularly audit top-performing content. Understand where each piece fits within Inspira's broader content strategy.
This is an in-person role requiring 5 days a week attendance in the NYC office (Gramercy).
**Requirements:**
*Required:*
- 5+ years of professional editing experience in digital publishing, content marketing, or similar, with before/after samples you can walk through

- Track record of feedback that makes a writer's next draft better, not just the current one
