Salary: USD 169,067 - 216,031 / annual
Varda Space Industries is accelerating commercial space infrastructure development, from in-orbit pharmaceutical processing to reliable reentry capsules. The company designs, builds, and operates W-Series vehicles in-house, including pharmaceutical processing payloads, capsules, heat shields, and satellite buses.
As a Senior Spacecraft Flight Software Engineer, you will be responsible for determining how spacecraft behave and operate in orbit, developing reliable software to ensure mission success. You will own all aspects of flight software development across the entire mission lifecycle, from requirements capture through testing and operational support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Developing reliable flight software for spacecraft, satellite buses, and reentry capsules
- Writing quality structured bare metal, RTOS, or Linux-based software for embedded processors in C++
- Owning all aspects of software development: design, testing, and integration
- Scoping projects including requirements capture and initial design trades for open-ended problems
- Ensuring system quality and performance through software test, verification, and validation (V&V) techniques
- Collaborating with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, math, physics, engineering, or equivalent technical experience in safety-critical software
- 5+ years of experience developing spacecraft or similar safety-critical software
- Strong C++ development experience and deep understanding of language concepts
Preferred experience includes end-to-end spacecraft development and launch, real-time embedded systems, aerospace safety-critical software, CCSDS telemetry/telecommand systems, F' or cFS frameworks, Python or Rust, analog/digital electronics, and familiarity with SPI, I2C, CAN, or EtherCAT protocols.
