Coder is hiring a Senior Solutions Engineer to lead pre-sales and post-sales technical relationships with U.S. federal, defense, and intelligence community agencies. You will partner with Account Executives to qualify and close deals by running deep technical proofs-of-concept, demos, and architecture discussions—often in classified or air-gapped environments—that demonstrate Coder's value for both human developers and AI coding agents. Key responsibilities include owning the technical relationship through pre-sales, leading or supporting post-sales renewals, demoing the Coder platform across developer, administrator, and AI agent workflows (including in classified settings), and installing Coder on cloud (GovCloud) and on-prem Kubernetes/VM infrastructure. You will run proofs-of-concept that prove value for agentic and LLM-powered development workflows, evolve into a subject-matter expert on Cloud Development Environments and agentic AI, and serve as the agency's voice by routing insights back to Engineering and Product. Additional duties include troubleshooting deployments and networking in classified networks, contributing pull requests to documentation, and logging feature requests in Git repositories. You must have an active TS/SCI clearance with Polygraph at hire and U.S. citizenship. You'll be physically based in the DC/Maryland/Virginia area with travel to customer sites as needed. Required experience includes minimum 5 years as a Solutions Engineer selling infrastructure or developer tooling (ideally to federal/defense/IC customers), hands-on experience with AI tooling at both user and infrastructure levels (coding agents, LLM proxies, routing layers), strong customer-facing skills, and the ability to translate technical challenges into mission value. Deep Linux fundamentals, 3+ years with Docker/Kubernetes, experience with AWS GovCloud or air-gapped deployments, 3+ years with Terraform or IaC tooling, and solid networking knowledge (ingress, proxies, load balancers, DoD/IC boundaries) are essential. Startup-speed execution and ownership mindset required. Success means diagnosing technical, security, and mission blockers in ambiguous agency conversations, designing fast proofs-of-concept even in classified networks, translating technical fluency into business cases for program managers and mission owners, and ensuring agencies leave demos with a clear picture of Coder's fit without compromising security. You spot risks early and feed field experience back into product and marketing.
