Snowflake is seeking an experienced Senior Solution Engineer based in Canberra to drive growth and technical strategy within the Australian Federal Public Sector. This is an office- and customer-facing role requiring high in-person contact with key government stakeholders.
You will partner closely with the sales team and channel partners to understand complex customer requirements, build trusted executive relationships, deliver compelling value-based demonstrations, lead enterprise Proofs of Concept (PoCs), and secure new business. You will be equally comfortable in both business and technical contexts, moving seamlessly between executive briefings and deep technical discussions.
Key responsibilities include: developing strategic partnerships with Sales Executives to navigate complex sales cycles; identifying and fostering technical and executive champions within target Federal Public Sector accounts; translating complex customer requirements and mission outcomes into concrete Snowflake capabilities; delivering hands-on technical value through whiteboarding, demos, and PoC execution; presenting Snowflake's technology and vision to senior government stakeholders; staying current with the evolving data and AI landscape and competitive positioning; and collaborating with Product, Engineering, and Marketing to refine offerings based on customer feedback.
Required qualifications: active Australian Government Security Clearance (NV1 or higher preferred) or eligibility to obtain one; base location in Canberra with commitment to high in-person office presence; 10+ years overall technical industry experience with minimum 5 years in pre-sales or solution engineering; proven ability to translate complex business problems into scalable data architectures; outstanding presentation and storytelling skills for technical and executive audiences; broad experience with enterprise-scale database, data warehouse, ETL, analytics, and cloud platforms; hands-on expertise with SQL and Python; ability to perform deep discovery of customer architecture and map to Snowflake solutions; university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field (Master's in Data Science or Business Administration preferred).
Desired qualifications include deep domain expertise and networks within Federal Public Sector (Defence, National Security, Law Enforcement, Federal Health); experience working with Global Systems Integrators (EY, Deloitte, Accenture, etc.).
