Salary: USD 230,000 - 260,000 / annual
Starburst is seeking a Senior Solution Architect for the presales team based on the East Coast (Boston, MA). This is a hybrid role requiring 25% travel for customer engagements, onboarding, and company events.
In this customer-facing technical role, you will partner with field sales representatives to own the technical aspects of the sales cycle, from discovery through closure. You will demonstrate Starburst's data intelligence platform capabilities, deliver technical presentations and educational workshops, run proofs of concept, and guide customers through migrations from legacy systems to production.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning technical aspects of the sales cycle and driving customer projects to closure
- Shaping prospect evaluation requirements and defining success criteria
- Designing and executing customer proof-of-concept studies
- Building demos, presentations, reference architectures, and custom integrations
- Performing system and SQL performance tuning and legacy system migrations
- Acting as the primary customer-facing technical resource during technology evaluations
- Serving as the voice of the customer in internal product engineering discussions
- Collaborating with Engineering and Support teams on critical customer issues
- Developing field best practices and contributing to internal knowledge bases
Required expertise includes ANSI SQL, UNIX/Linux CLI, data warehouse concepts, private/public cloud deployments, and big data technologies (Hadoop, distributed systems). You should have proven experience in customer-facing technical roles, field sales/consulting, strong presentation skills, and excellent communication abilities. A desire to work in a fast-paced startup environment with cutting-edge technologies is essential.
