Starburst is seeking a Senior Solution Architect to drive customer adoption and success with its enterprise data platform. Built on open standards like Trino and Apache Iceberg, Starburst enables organizations to access distributed data securely for AI and analytics without vendor lock-in.
In this customer-facing technical role, you will own the technical aspects of the sales cycle, working closely with field sales to drive deals from discovery through closure. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading technical evaluations and proof-of-concept engagements with enterprise customers
- Designing and delivering product demonstrations, technical presentations, and educational workshops
- Providing architecture guidance on system design, deployment, and migration strategies from legacy platforms
- Performing SQL and system performance tuning and optimization
- Serving as the primary technical resource during customer technology evaluations
- Collaborating with Engineering and Support teams on critical customer issues
- Developing field best practices, documentation, and contributing to internal knowledge bases
- Acting as the voice of the customer in internal product discussions
You should have deep expertise in ANSI SQL, data warehouse concepts, cloud deployments (AWS, Azure, GCP), and big data technologies (Hadoop, distributed systems). Prior experience in customer-facing technical roles, field sales, or field consulting is essential. Strong presentation skills, real-time problem-solving ability, and excellent communication are critical. The role requires 25% travel for customer engagements, onboarding, and company events.
