Salary: USD 166,000 - 220,000 / annual
Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking a Senior Product Manager for its Strategic Defense business line. This role is based in Washington, DC or Seattle, WA.
You will own the product roadmap for autonomous air and missile defense capabilities, translating strategic objectives and warfighter needs into actionable product specifications. Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the product roadmap for autonomy capabilities, including backend services and UI-based oversight, explainability, and control interfaces
- Defining autonomy behavior and human-machine interfaces, including decision authority, operator overrides, engagement constraints, and safety guardrails
- Supporting software execution by sequencing workstreams, resolving cross-team dependencies, tracking delivery, and holding stakeholders accountable
- Proactively communicating roadmaps, execution status, and goals to stakeholders; escalating trade-offs and decision points as needed
- Operating as the owner of the autonomy capability area, working with business development, proposal, marketing, and compliance teams
- Delivering new capabilities across the product lifecycle, from initial release through day-to-day improvements, validating and experimenting along the way
- Defining and monitoring key metrics for autonomy performance, safety, and controls behavior in operationally relevant conditions
- Interviewing defense operators and subject matter experts to develop insights and propagate user needs throughout the organization
- Building relationships across business and technical teams, working with engineers, designers, business development, operations, customer success, marketing, and finance
- Partnering with test engineers and program teams to devise rigorous testing scenarios that validate functionality and drive rapid iteration
The Strategic Defense team is at the forefront of incubating AI-native offerings for integrated air and missile defense, working on mission autonomy and resilient mesh architectures. You will collaborate with elite teams in AI, Edge Hardware, Space Solutions, Networking, and Test Engineering.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Currently possesses and is able to maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance (Top Secret clearance preferred)
- 3-5 years in software product management, ideally in highly technical areas such as autonomous systems, AI/ML products, or developer solutions
- Working fluency in autonomy and controls concepts (state estimation, planning, closed-loop control) sufficient to reason about system behavior and limits with engineers
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Foundational understanding of back-end web technologies and distributed systems
- Demonstrated aptitude for prototyping solutions, including through AI code generation
- Proven ability to decompose and organize technically complex projects in a structured approach
- Demonstrated ability to drive software execution directly (planning, dependency management, schedule accountability)
- Aptitude for working with internal and external stakeholders across a wide range of technical comfort levels
- Ability to travel for discovery and testing purposes (surges up to 50%)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance
- Hands-on experience shipping autonomous systems, robotics, guidance/navigation/control, or mission autonomy software
- Familiarity with mathematical optimization problems (assignment, resource allocation, scheduling, trajectory optimization) and tradeoffs between optimality, runtime, and operator trust
- Experience with AI safety, assurance, or verification and validation for learning-enabled or automated decision-making systems
- Background in operations research, optimization, or applied mathematics through experience or education
- Defense, national security, or aerospace domain familiarity
- Experience working in a developer-focused product team (cloud services, SDK development, internal platform infrastructure)
- Experience supporting test design and execution for technically complex, combined hardware/software systems
