Speechify is a 50M+ user text-to-speech platform that transforms reading into audio across PDFs, books, Google Docs, websites, and more. The company operates 100% distributed with ~200 employees globally, including engineers from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, and Stanford. You will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. Key responsibilities include: • Design and architect Windows desktop applications with emphasis on performance, memory efficiency, responsive UI, and cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+). • Define and enforce best practices for Windows development: code architecture, maintainability, and reliability standards across the codebase. • Drive accessibility initiatives by integrating Windows accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation), ensuring keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, focus management, and inclusive design for users with disabilities. • Collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and stakeholders to shape feature planning, UI/UX architecture, and long-term Windows platform roadmap. • Own the full feature lifecycle: conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance. • Identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems with robust architectural solutions. Required qualifications: 3+ years Windows desktop development (Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML); deep understanding of Windows application architecture and managed/native code interop; proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications; strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs; excellent software engineering fundamentals (OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading); experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and conducting code reviews; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; user-centric mindset. Preferred: automated UI testing experience, performance optimization expertise, localization/globalization experience, familiarity with telemetry and crash reporting, CI/CD and release pipeline experience, demonstrated ownership of feature areas long-term.
