Speechify is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications. With over 50 million users relying on Speechify's text-to-speech products, this role offers high impact and technical ownership. You will be responsible for designing and building Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. Key responsibilities include defining best practices for Windows development across the codebase, driving accessibility initiatives to ensure support for users with disabilities, and collaborating with product designers, UX researchers, and QA teams to shape the Windows platform roadmap. You'll own the full feature lifecycle from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance. This includes identifying and resolving complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and compatibility issues while proposing robust architectural solutions. Required qualifications include 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML. You should have deep understanding of Windows application architecture, including interop between managed (.NET) and native code. Proven track record of shipping production-quality desktop applications with emphasis on reliability, performance, and maintainability is essential. Strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation) and dedication to inclusive software is required. You must demonstrate excellent software engineering fundamentals, experience leading technical design and mentoring engineers, and strong cross-functional communication skills. Preferred qualifications include experience with automated UI testing, performance optimization for desktop apps, localization and internationalization, telemetry and crash reporting, CI/CD workflows for desktop applications, and demonstrated ability to own feature areas long-term. Speechify operates as a 100% distributed company with nearly 200 employees globally. The team includes engineers from Amazon, Microsoft, Google, Stanford PhD programs, and high-growth startups like Stripe and Vercel.
