As Senior Software Engineer for Windows Desktop Applications, you will lead the design, architecture, and development of native Windows desktop applications using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and C++ as needed. You'll define and enforce best practices across the Windows codebase, covering architecture, performance, memory usage, responsive UI, cross-version compatibility (Windows 10/11+), and maintainability.
Key responsibilities include driving accessibility efforts by integrating Windows accessibility APIs (Microsoft UI Automation), ensuring proper focus management, keyboard navigation, and screen-reader support. You'll collaborate with product designers, UX researchers, and QA to shape feature planning and the Windows platform roadmap. You'll own the full feature lifecycle from conception through design, implementation, testing, release, and maintenance, ensuring quality and consistency. You'll identify and resolve complex bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, rendering issues, and compatibility problems, proposing robust architectural solutions.
Required qualifications: 3+ years of Windows desktop application development with Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, and XAML; deep understanding of Windows application architecture and interop between managed (.NET) and native code; proven track record shipping production-quality desktop applications emphasizing reliability, performance, and maintainability; strong experience with Windows accessibility APIs and commitment to inclusive software; excellent software engineering fundamentals (OOP, design patterns, data structures, algorithms, memory management, multi-threading); experience leading technical design, mentoring engineers, and making architecture-level decisions; strong communication and cross-functional collaboration skills; user-centric mindset.
Preferred: experience with automated UI testing frameworks, performance optimization for desktop apps, localization/globalization and right-to-left UI support, telemetry and crash reporting, CI/CD workflows for desktop applications, and demonstrated ability to own feature areas long-term.
