Pivotal Health is a technology platform helping healthcare providers navigate complex reimbursement landscapes and dispute underpaid claims from insurance companies. The company combines software, data, and services to simplify workflows around Independent Dispute Resolution (IDR) and broader reimbursement operations.
As Senior Platform Engineer, you'll design and evolve the cloud architecture that powers Pivotal's platform, ensuring it scales reliably as the business grows. You'll work closely with feature engineering teams to build the foundational systems, tooling, and automation that enable faster, more confident shipping.
Key responsibilities include:
- Architecting cloud-native systems on GCP, evaluating trade-offs and ensuring long-term scalability and reliability
- Developing platform tooling, services, and automation that improve developer productivity and observability
- Expanding Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) coverage to version and audit critical resources across environments
- Designing event-driven system interactions and data flows that balance performance with reliability
- Building monitoring, alerting, and testing infrastructure that surfaces meaningful operational signal
- Securing CI/CD pipelines, access controls, and data flows while supporting compliance as the company scales
- Identifying and eliminating toil through automation, better abstractions, and AI-driven tooling
- Partnering with engineering teams to unblock delivery and ensure platform decisions reflect real-world needs
You bring 5+ years of platform, infrastructure, or software engineering experience. You have strong software fundamentals (Python preferred), hands-on cloud-native design experience, deep Terraform expertise, and familiarity with CI/CD (GitHub Actions), containers/Kubernetes, databases, and event-driven architectures (Kafka, Pub/Sub, Kinesis). You're comfortable discussing architectural trade-offs thoughtfully and clearly.
Extra credit: startup/scaling environment experience, SRE background, serverless architectures, regulated/security-sensitive environments, or prior FinTech/HealthTech experience.
Pivotal is a collaborative, low-ego team headquartered in Los Angeles with a core hub in New York. Remote and hybrid flexibility varies by role; this position is based in Santa Monica with flexibility to be discussed.
