Adyen is a global financial technology platform providing payments, data, and financial products for enterprise customers including Facebook, Uber, H&M, and Microsoft. The Financial Products team builds banking, issuing, FX, and capital solutions on top of the core payments infrastructure.
In this role, you will work on complex technical projects across the full lifecycle: requirements analysis, design, implementation, testing, and production launch. You'll be a hands-on contributor building APIs and tooling that operate at massive scale, serving millions of merchants and shoppers globally. Your responsibilities include identifying opportunities to improve platform robustness and scalability, contributing to engineering best practices, and collaborating across distributed teams to ship features rapidly.
Key focus areas: designing and implementing distributed systems, building REST APIs and webhooks, working with PostgreSQL, and ensuring code quality and performance. You'll launch features within weeks of joining and iterate based on real-world usage patterns. The role emphasizes cross-functional collaboration with data science, frontend, and product teams, with an experimental mindset and bias toward fast iteration.
You bring 8+ years of software development experience in fast-paced tech environments, with strong proficiency in Java, web services, REST APIs, webhooks, and SQL/PostgreSQL. You understand distributed systems at scale, value diverse perspectives, and have a track record of shipping products in high-velocity settings. Full professional English proficiency required.
Adyen is office-first, requiring 3 days per week in the Amsterdam office for in-person collaboration.
