Aalyria is a leading aerospace technology company specializing in laser communications and software-defined networking platforms for satellite and airborne mesh networks, including cislunar and deep-space communications. The company, which acquired technology from Google, is revolutionizing the orchestration and management of planetary mesh networks across land, sea, air, and space.
We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our core Spacetime infrastructure and platform engineering team. This role focuses on building the foundational systems that enable every Aalyria environment to operate seamlessly across commercial cloud, government cloud, and secure, classified, or disconnected deployments.
Key responsibilities include:
Cloud Infrastructure: Design and build the foundations for Aalyria environments, including cloud accounts and projects, networking, DNS and IPAM, identity and RBAC, quotas and policy. Own Kubernetes cluster lifecycle end-to-end—provisioning, upgrades, and addons—and manage the networking layer including Gateway API, service mesh, and zero-trust connectivity. Maintain consistent patterns across diverse environments while making deliberate choices around cloud provider differences, security domains, and customer requirements.
Delivery and Packaging: Implement disconnected deployment as a first-class capability, including registry and artifact mirroring, hermetic builds, artifact sourcing with no egress, bootstrapping without upstream dependencies, and out-of-band promotion.
You will work alongside seasoned engineers from top-tier tech companies, managing project priorities, timelines, and deliverables while designing, developing, testing, and maintaining core software systems. The ideal candidate brings a solid technical background, proven track record solving complex engineering challenges, adaptability, and proactive problem-solving. You will have flexibility to contribute to and take ownership of various projects as both you and the company grow.
