Baselayer is rebuilding the identity and verification layer for American financial institutions. The company has built the most comprehensive business graph in the US by fusing public records, IRS data, sanctions lists, web signals, and fraud telemetry from 2,200+ financial institutions, achieving 98% match rates in under two years—far exceeding legacy credit bureaus. Trusted by over 20% of US financial institutions including FIS, Rho, and Socure, the graph is expanding beyond finance into gig platforms, marketplaces, AI companies, and commerce infrastructure. You will join a small, high-ownership engineering team solving real-time entity resolution at unprecedented scale. The role owns product features end-to-end across the identity graph surface: schema design, data ingestion pipelines, entity resolution and linking systems, customer-facing APIs, multi-tenancy and access control, and performance optimization under production load. Key responsibilities include: ingesting and normalizing heterogeneous public records into the graph (ingestion to API surface); building entity resolution systems that match businesses and people across sources with mismatched keys, misspellings, and varied address formats; designing and shipping customer-facing APIs for search, lookup, monitoring, and webhook delivery; owning schema design and zero-downtime migrations on a 24/7 hot database; optimizing query patterns and ingestion pipelines for 10x volume; and implementing multi-tenancy with data-layer access control. Minimum qualifications: shipped end-to-end product features from ingestion to storage to API in production; owned a Postgres schema supporting real financial decisions; strong async Python and async service scaling experience; deep Postgres expertise including schema design under live load, query analysis, and zero-downtime migrations; FastAPI or equivalent with auth, OpenAPI contracts, and structured responses; multi-tenant API design with load-bearing access control. Differentiators include: entity resolution, record linkage, or fuzzy matching at scale; search infrastructure (full-text, fuzzy, or vector) synced with Postgres; KYC/KYB/fraud/underwriting pipeline experience; address parsing and normalization at country scale; webhook delivery infrastructure with retries, signing, idempotency, and ordering; GCP experience with Cloud Run, Cloud Tasks, Cloud SQL, and batch pipelines.
