Okta's Identity Governance (OIG) organization is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Identity Administration team, responsible for critical enterprise identity workflows including access requests, approvals, and resource provisioning at scale.
You will own feature areas end-to-end—from technical design through implementation, testing, deployment, and post-launch monitoring. The role involves designing and building high-quality, production-ready features across the OIG system with focus on correctness, reliability, and performance. You'll quickly deliver bug fixes, handle customer-reported issues, and maintain clean, well-tested code while partnering with Product, QA, and Site Reliability Engineering teams.
Required qualifications include 5+ years of experience with Java (Spring/Dropwizard) and/or Golang, with deep understanding of multi-threading and asynchronous processing. You need hands-on experience building high-performance RESTful APIs and/or gRPC services, solid experience with relational databases (MySQL/PostgreSQL) and caching layers (Redis) at scale, and proficiency with AWS (Fargate, EC2, Lambda) and Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform). Strong containerization skills (Docker/Kubernetes) and CI/CD automation tools (Jenkins, ArgoCD, GitHub Actions) are essential.
Nice-to-have skills include understanding of OAuth 2.0, OIDC, and JWT tokens for service-to-service communication; experience with monitoring tools like Splunk, SignalFX, or Datadog; familiarity with Kafka or SQS for asynchronous events; basic React/JavaScript knowledge; and understanding of multi-tenant infrastructure deployment.
A B.S. in Computer Science or related field is required. This is a rare opportunity to join a team where technical decisions directly shape how thousands of enterprises manage access governance, with genuinely hard technical challenges and work that impacts real users daily.
